Helen Mirren: Breaking down a Script (Literally) | MasterClass Moments | MasterClass

I deconstruct it. Literally, I deconstruct it. I ask for two scripts,
or maybe three scripts. I’ll have one total
script, so I can constantly refer to where I am
and where the story is. But I’ll take my scenes out. I’ll put them in an envelope. And then I’ll put on
the envelope the day that we shoot it. And then I’ll have
a whole week’s work. So I will literally– I will now work week
to week to week. I don’t have to hold the whole
film or the whole series, whatever it is, in my mind. All I need to concentrate
on is the next week’s work. So I’m always one
week ahead of myself. So that’s kind of how I
personally break down a script.
