Calligraphy Numerals : Calligraphy Pens & Markers

In learning calligraphy you have a choice
of writing materials or writing instruments. We also have many choices, if you go to the
art store you’ll see lots of different pens. So, you can certainly work with markers that
have a broad flat tip, so the marker gives you a thick and thin line, and there are a
number of different brands, here’s a couple of them I could show you here. I recommend
using the broader pens, or broader markers if you’re going to use markers, because they
give you a slightly cleaner edge. But the professional choice for lettering, and one
that is classic is to use a steel nipped pen, (that ones got ink on it, but you can see
what the nip looks like here) and there are a number of manufactures of them. And the
ink rides inside, you write with the steel side of the pen, and the brass side of the
pen stays on top, and this fits into a holder, like so. So I would recommend if you possibly
can, to get a steel nipped pen in a slightly larger size, not the small size, and it’s
a good way to begin.
